Have you ever eaten an PowerBar? This morning is my first. I took a small break from running, about two weeks. Not my choice. Life was not allowing me to control my time, running fell by the gutter. But this week I'm back on top and hitting the km's. Have run Mon and Tues....but it was tough. Feels like I'm starting from zero again. Haven't had great sleep this week, that's the major factor. So I remembered that one of the running magazines I subscribe to sent me a free sample. I dug it out, read the instructions...it is administrating power to my system, there has to be instructions. Ate my chocolate goo, it's an interesting texture, drank the suggested amount of water in the suggested amount of time. Now I'm hitting the treadmill. We'll see if I feel the Power.Stay Tuned.
A BIG congrats to Mrs. M who has hit her 10 pound mark. Good Job, Gold Star, You're the Best! As she said, now for the next 10. For those of you that think the weight loss challenge is ending in 3 weeks....again.... Stay Tuned.

Power Bar Verdict Post Run - felt more energy than the couple runs. Put in 10 more minutes and burned 100 extra calories than yesterday. I'll try them again.

Are you a SuperWoman?
Sometimes I am....not this week. I have not set foot on the treadmill since last week. I've wanted to, tried to organize my time, had the ambition to, and it hasn't happened. Life and career have gotten in the way for an entire week, and there will not be a break this week either.
So I hope you all are your own SuperWoman. But I am taking a minute off...because my titles at the moment are;

10 lbs in 100 Days - Week 9
The one thing that knocks me off my game, keeps me from the mark and repels me from my treadmill....is being tired. This week I've been especially tired. Two little boys that seem to have a strategy of waking me up at night, it hits you after time. I got a run in on Monday, though a pathetic one. By my second interval I was hitting a wall. I figured a short run was better than no run. Tuesday I didn't even bother putting on the running apparel in the morning, I knew it wasn't happening.Today I am dressed to run, and hopefully will get there.
Lack of sleep also makes me cranky. S adds to her prayer every night that the boys won't wake mom up in the night so she won't be cranky. Nice.....it would seem divine intervention is all that will help this mother.
Congratulations to BJ who is kicking all our butts with a total weight loss of 7 pounds. A has lost her entire 10, but says she can't take full honors as it is due to stress. She gets a gold star anyway.

I don't know about you, but the pounds are sticking to me. I'm running, and losing inches. But that darn scale is insistent to stay on the same numbers. Maybe the betteries are dead and it's stuck. I'll check that.
Did you start measuring at the start? If so, bring out your chart and see if you've shrunk.
The candy is depleting, thanks in part to my consumption. Throw it all away. Your scale will thank you. The kids have definately had enough, and I don't need the temptation anymore.
Good luck this week. Work hard, increase your workouts by one. One workout, one interval, one minute if that's all you can handle.

Week 7 - Half Way.
Do you feel as though you are half way to your goal? Weight wise I'm not losing fast, still only the 3 pounds. But other accomplishments to celebrate. Ran 4.65km this morning, that's the third run this week. So that's big. Nearly to my 5 km goal. Also have lost 2.5 inches off my waist and .5 inches off hips. Got into jeans yesterday that I haven't worn for a while. And wore them all day. How can you lose inches and not pounds??! I don't know. I'm running so maybe I'm gaining muscle weight.
What are your accomplishments. We've been focused on the weight loss number. That can't always be the only way to measure your success.
Anything to report?

I'm retaining water....so is this cat.
I find that during 'my week' I retain a lot more water than usual. I also prefer not to weigh myself as it's not going to be a pretty sight. It raises the question though, do you work out during your period? I generally do. Unless it's my one bad day. The rest I generally feel better by working out. Usually helps with the cramps and water retention.
Also, getting a good sleep helps with weight loss. I've heard this before. Here's an article by CBS that gives some info on that.
That's all for today, I haven't been getting enough sleep lately, and the brain is not functioning well today.
Weight loss to date.

~ 10 lbs in 100 Days - Week 5 ~
How is the intensity during your workouts? I find that increasing my intensity is stalled, not by my muscles but by my mind. My head tells me that I can't do more, when my muscles still have some capacity. This is proven as I increase my running intervals each week. Even in weeks where my workouts haven't been fantastic, I'm able to increase the interval the next week without dying. This week has been a prime example. Tuesday I ran and didn't have a lot of time, but wanted to get some kind of workout done. So I ran two 5 minute intervals. Today, I had time to do a full work out. I did four 5 minute intervals. It was tough, but I accomplished.
Increasing your intensity can also be done by keeping your intervals constant ( if you're running) but adding resistance. I do this by increasing the incline of my treadmill. By adding one minute to each of my intervals this week and increasing my incline one notch, I burned 60 more calories and ran .3 km more than last week. I'm slowly working up to the 5 km run that I have Dec 31st. Today I ran 4.02 km.
Oh, and the picture....that's just for a little inspiration!!
Pounds - I'm down another pound - Finally! It's taken nearly 2 weeks to get off 1 pound. Frustrating! Let me hear your results this week.

~ 10lbs in 100 Days - Week 4
This week it's time to measure. If you measured at the beginning, see if there is any change this week. Sometimes you'll start losing inches before pounds.
Welcome and Congrats to Miss CC who lost 5 pounds last week. 5 pounds!! That's craziness....especially since she lives with me, and I didn't lose 5 pounds.
Keep going, don't give up. Let me know your weight loss (if any after the Turkey)

10 lbs in 100 Days - Week 2
I'm here to report that I lost 1.5 pounds....for a total of 2. Small numbers, but a start.
My tip for the week.
I find that if I leave my runners on all day, I get more done. Try it. Not that comfy to curl up with a book and your shoes on. I tend to to keep on working around the house. I noticed that Flylady suggested the same thing. Wake up in the morning, get dressed right to your shoes. Start your day off with a bang and keep on going.
Let me know how much you lost this week.
Totals I've received so far.

~ Lose 10lbs in 100 Days - Week 1 ~
Week 1 - how did you do?
I started out great. Went for a run 3x and was getting enough water everyday. Then life and family situations got my attention and I was out of town for a couple days. So I only lost .5 pounds this week. But hey, it's a start.
What is your plan of action?
Did you measure? I did, but am not going to measure again until the end of week 4. I'm on my last 10-15 pounds, so it's coming of slow.
Let me know how many pounds you lost this week so I can keep our tally going.
Week 2 Challenge - Weight Training.
Have a great week!!

~ Challenge Kick Off ~
Here is it, 100 days until Christmas. What better time to take off 10 pounds. To some 10 pounds doesn't sound like a lot, but for those of us that have a little weight to lose, but not loads, 10 pounds is a huge amount. Especially if it's your last 10 pounds. This isn't my last 10 pounds, I'd like to take of 10 more after that. But if this is the only 10 pounds, then that would be great.
So, here goes.
Step on your scale, and look down at the number. You will have to actually look at the number if you want to participate. And don't round or rationalize the number. It's not because you're retaining water, or it's that time of the month....or whatever. Look at the number. Now visualize the number, less 10. Looks better hey?
Next, measure. Most times you'll start losing inches before pounds. Measure waist, hips, thighs, arms, boob....where ever you'd like to keep track of the difference. Write down each measurement.
Finally, get started. Walk, run, skip if you like. But get moving. Do something you enjoy, there's nothin' worse that excercise, especially if you hate it. I've been running twice this week. Why did I ever stop. I love running.
Every Wednesday check in to get motivated and inspired by everyone else. Tell us how much you've lost. I'll be keep track of the total pounds. That's what the big number on the sidebar is. How many pounds can we lose?
If you're one of my lurkers and want to parcitipate, post your number anonymously. I'll add it to our total. But if you want to win the prize, you will have to reveal yourself at some point.
Here's your first inspiration. 100 days is just over 14 weeks. You only have to lose 1 pound per week, and still have 4 weeks to spare. The first couple weeks might show nothing, or you may see lots come off all at once and then level off. Don't give up. Even if you only end up losing 5 pounds, that's 5 pound less than now, and your jeans will be fitting better.
75% of what you look like is because of what goes in your mouth. The other 25% is based on your activity level. Make better food choices. I find that 3:00 is my witching hour. I do great for breakfast and lunch. Around 3 is when I'm pretty hungry and start crazing. Or eat the quick cookie. I've started eating half sandwich at this time. Tomatoe, cucumber, cheese....yum. We don't eat dinner until after 6, so I'm still plenty hungry by then.
Stay hydrated. Water, water, water.
Good luck....see you next week.

~ Challenge ~
I challenge you.
100 days to lose 10 pounds.
It's my goal. A little weight has snuck by on me as I've been dealing with different things in my life, and neglecting my running. So I'm getting back on track.
So there are a few days to get your goals set. What will you do? Eat better, move more?
On Wednesday, step on your scale. Don't cringe, don't cry, just accept the story the number tells. And make your goal happen.
Check in every week and let us know how you're doing. Everyone does better with support.
Is there a prize?! Why, yes there is.
When you reach your goal of 10 pounds, let me know and I'll enter you into the draw for a copy of the book I just read and enjoyed, The Last Concubine. And for those that are able to take off more than 10 pounds in 100 days, you'll be entered into a draw for some fabulicious Bath and Body Works products. You have not lived until you've treated yourself to Bath and Body Works.
Hop to it, get a plan in place.
Don't look at the big picture. Look at one pound at a time. More move, eating better. Don't eat after 7:00, walk the kids to school, lift weights while you watch your favorite show. It can be just that easy.
See you Wednesday for the kick off of 100 days to lose 10 pounds!!
