Why do I blog?

Jody at Sanity is Overrated posed an interesting question today.....Why do you blog?

I thought about that....why do I blog.

May 23, 2007 that was my first blog post.  I think I initially started because it was the thing to do.  Everyone seemed to be jumping on the blogging wagon...I'm a techy girl,  so I did too.  I quickly found out that a blog can have a big impact.  On my life, and those around me.  I'm a bit of a quirky girl,  sometimes the stuff that comes out of my mouth is funny,   sometimes shocking,  other times outrageous.  It all seems to land on this blog.  I have found my blog therapeutic,  fun,  sometimes hurtful and other times silly.

I've always been amazed that some people judge someone based on their blog,  like as if it reflects their entire life.  I've been further surprised by those that make nasty comments or anonymous ones.  Crazy.

For me,  this blog is sort of a journal,  therapy session for myself,  venting arena and a way to clear out my head so I can move on.  Read if you want....or don't.  Doesn't matter to me.  I blog for me.

Life has changed a lot in the time I've had this blog...and continues to do so.

Why do I read your blogs?  Some I read and leave comments,  others I lurk to see what you're up to.  All are interesting,  all are fun...I enjoy.

Why do you blog?

Oh...and that wave of change...I rode it like a pro.

  3. It's a great question. I think I started out doing it for myself, but it has kind of morphed into a little community of sharing. I really don't know WHAT others get out of my blog - if anything - but I keep doing it because, like you, I find it therapeutic and it helps me keep a record of my life.

  4. I am with you 100%, it is therapy, just think how much money we have saved in therapy bills over the last 4 years. However, I don't seem to inspire the same kinds of comments so I guess that means my life is not as exciting. Keep the quirky coming, life is way to short to always color within the lines!

  5. I blog for very similar reasons as you....it's a great source of therapy =) I feel I get more off my chest when it's not actually to a person...just sort of thrown out there for cyber space =)

I also enjoy ppl's comments....especially on yours as you tend to get some great advice & encouragement from those of us that love you & support you. That being said, you also get the snoopy snarky comments from ppl that are just looking for things to use against you. **If she wanted you to know what was going on in her life she'd tell you =) **

Congrats on the change - you'll do great!

  6. I agree wtih the thought of it's crazy that people judge other's entire life based on thier blog. We are all just human and we all make mistakes and sometimes we need to vent. Sorry to say, but everyone in this world is not happy and positive and perky all the time. Sometimes we have nasty, mean things that we think and sometimes we write them on our blogs...don't judge us ; )

I blog because I'm a follower and I wanted to keep my friends and family updated on our life (although only Megan reads my blog). I like to read other people's blogs and look at pictures of other people's lives. It makes me realize that my life is not anything out of the ordinary. I'm just a normal person...I think.
